Mary B Lyons’ writer’s workshop: writing with confidence

Local author, editor and illustrator, Mary B Lyons hosts a writing with confidence workshop on Wednesday 18th May at the Ian Goodchild Centre in Camberley from 7.0pm – 9.0pm. Mid-session refreshments included.

Mary was in Camberley’s Waterstones book shop last week, signing copies of her thriller novel Airshow Ilex.

Workshop description: If you’re new to writing, or need a refresher, Mary’s workshop will give you the confidence to write. Her writer’s workshop describes how to get started writing short stories and plays, novels, poems, and song lyrics. Mary demonstrates the writing of song lyrics on an acoustic guitar.

Is there a market for new writers work? Mary describes the huge market for articles in journals, especially if accompanied by high quality photographs.

Mary also talks about the process of getting her first thriller novel – Airshow Ilex, published in 2010. Mary is an accomplished presenter and teacher.

The process of “getting published” involved paying a printer to print a run of copies. I’m not sure that self-publication is what many potential attendees would be expecting.
